The larks that can be had with this! Post your aspiration (or your children's aspirations) on our Facebook page. We want to see what you want to be when you've grown into an even older you!
Awamu, the social enterprise behind Together, work with awesome, determined children in the slums of Kampala who wanted to share their dreams and aspirations with us. In fact, they chose the theme for the party.
Everyone has dreams, theirs are inspiring.
Awamu is helping children through school, our first 14 children recently graduated to secondary school and they have their eye on the future.
Due to the extreme poverty they live in, most children in the slums drop out of education to try earn money to help their families survive; few make it on to secondary school. Awamu are changing the landscape, building gardens where kids can grow their own food, supporting them with education grants, uniforms, books and pens so that they can aspire for brighter futures.
Your support for Together really counts, we are grateful to everyone involved... to all of you donating your time and energy, all the artists and everyone that has bought a ticket. By way of a thank you, we'll be posting pictures of what WE want to be when we grow up...
'My name is Matovu Ian, I love you so much. At our home we have a garden and like to grow different crops like carrots, beans and banana. I like to eat carrots and rice. I like to play football and my dream is to become an international footballer. Thank you 100%.'
'When I grow up I want to be like my mum. My mum is the best mum in the world. She works so hard and I love her. I would like her to teach me how to sew because then I can design and make clothes for people who can't afford nice things.'
'I'm good at looking after my brothers and sisters, I enjoy growing food but my favorite thing is dancing. Every Saturday I come to dance at the office, I enjoy performing traditional dances. It makes me feel good and I like it when you can make other people happy.'
'When I was little I saw a film on a TV. It was about a man who slayed dragons. I never saw TV before, he was a hero, he saved everyone. I thought that what I saw was real and I used to practice fighting dragons with my friends. I know everything on TV is not real now but still I secretly want to fight dragons.'
'My name is Gift, I am 4 years old, I’m too little to go to school yet. I don’t know what I want to be when I grow up. I like mangos, hide and seek and my brother Frank.'
'I like football but I will be a pilot when I am not playing in important matches.'
'When I grow up I want to be able to take play netball all the time. I am the best goal attack. I love playing with my friends, if one of us is failing at homework or is sad then we help each other, I like helping people to feel happy.'
'I want to drive a bus so I can travel all over the country and see everywhere and meet lots of people and everyone will be happy because they are visiting their families.'
